What personal data we collect and why we collect it
By personal data or personal information we refer to the one as defined by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Decree Law 58/2019 8th of August. Personal data or personal information is any information referring to a single person identified or identifiable, it is considered an identifiable person, a single person that can be identified, directly or indirectly, by the use of an identifier, as for example, identification number, location data, electronic identifiers or one or more specific elements of physical identity, physiological, genetic, economic, cultural or social of that single person.
The collected data are analyzed in order to provide access to services that the user intends to have access to, as well as the statistical analysis of these to be included in scientific reports or publications.
General access to the website
We do not collect data from users when accessing the content displayed in the general area of the website.
User Profile area
When the user registers to access the user profile section, we collect data related to the user’s household energy consumption activities, appliances, and expenses with such. This information is used to provide accurate detailed feedback about user’s conditions. Consequently, users will receive personalized recommendations about strategies to address their information. Information provided by users will be kept strictly private. The information may be analyzed and treated to be published for scientific purposes. Users data can be used for those publications, however these will always be used in an aggregated way. In addition, users identity will never be given out and all their data will be kept anonymous.
We do not use, handle or share IP addresses from visitors to our Website.
Cookies are small files that are stored in your computer, identifying you as a unique user and that save your personal preferences to make sure you have the best user experience of the website as possible. If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
Who we share your data with
The data collected by our website will be reserved to the partners in the SMILE (Smart Island Energy Systems) project. Your data will be anonymized when used in scientific publications or reports, no personal information that could be traced to you will be used for those documents. We will not provide or sell your personal data to any third parties, unless we are obliged by law or by court decision.
How long we retain your data
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile.
All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
How we protect your data
We commit ourselves to implement all the necessary precautions to preserve the confidentiality and safety of your personal data. For that purpose, technical security measures were developed to protect user’s data from being inappropriately disseminated, being lost, modified or used for non-authorized analysis.
ACIF keeps its policy under regular review and we reserve the right to amend it at our discretion. The user should consult it periodically.
